When my daughter was about to begin kindergarten, I thought we were all ready. As it turns out, my child was looking forward to the prospect. I was the nervous wreck. For the first time since she was born, another adult would be taking responsibility for her for a good chunk of the day.
Both parent and child made it through the first day. Lunch with a friend who placed her child in kindergarten the year before helped. When my daughter came home bursting with news about the fun she had and the new friends she made, I knew things were going to be all right.
